Be Good to Your Kids…

So… this guy named Al Gringlen in Illinois just received a life sentence for committing a string of armed bank robberies that netted him about $60,000 which he then spent on crack and prostitutes. Sounds like a reall winner, right?
Here?s the kicker… I love this… he was caught because his son (one who is a police officer in Peoria) happened to be checking out a law enforcement website, and recognized his dad on the surveillance video of one of the robberies. The son called his brother (a music teacher) and together they decided to go confront their dad. While they were there, they found a diary their father had kept about the robberies and the clothes he wore during the commission of the crimes, and decided to turn him in.
The brothers, when interviewed, have no regrets about blowing the whistle on good ole crack-smoking, gun-toting, whore-fucking pops. They were both just glad that he didn?t hurt anyone during the robberies.
Now… Christopher and I have actually debated this issue of turning in a family member for a crime before. I can?t speak for him in this particular case, but his general feeling is that you shouldn?t turn in a family member or a husband/wife, etc. I disagree. I think it depends on the circumstances of the crime.
For example, if I was attacked while I was walking to my car one night and beaten or something, and then the next week, the guys who attacked me mysteriously were found killed, and my husband didn?t have a real solid alibi for where he was the night my attackers bit the dust, I?d lie for him for sure. Even if he knew he?d killed them, I?d flat out lie to protect him. But… if your family member, or husband, or wife, or whatever is out committing crimes because they?re a. insane, b. desperate for money or drugs or something, or c. just went down the wrong road with their hoody friends, then I think it?s your responsibility to do whatever is in your power to prevent your family member from hurting him/herself or someone else. So in that instance, I feel it would be my responsibility to tell authorities if it was something pretty bad, or if I?d tried to talk to him/her and they decided they wanted to continue on with their criminal lifestyle.

I personally would never turn family or even friends in.. I think the only situation I would even do anything at all is if a friend killed someone like my wife, but I woudl probably just kill them.. family is family.. and friends are friends.. but I guess there might be a point where i would say fuck it and turn someone in.. hard to say… I’ve thought about calling the police a few times when Christine was trying to stab me.. especially after that one time she actually impaled my shoulder.

Blood is thicker than water. Unless I had a family member who was a danger to the lives of others, I wouldn’t turn them in.
…unless there was a reward or something…
(Just kidding! D )

I got to agree with Christine on this one, it definately varies from circumstances. I would probably not turn in a friend or a family member if lets say a really evil demented person is killed and they are directly responsible for it.
On the other hand if they themselves are nuts and hurting innocent people… I wont mind making the call.
(The above is subject to change depending on things like reward amount and bribes P )

but back to the topic at hand… me neither, i wouldn’t turn in a family member unless extremely necessary i.e. he/she has became a great danger to others. and like ben, i also believe that blood is thicker than water. ironically for my country tho, this same conviction has fucked up our politics for years.

listen here if i went out and happened to commit a crime and a family member or friend were the one to turn me in, i would make the decision there that i will commit only one crime and my special victim would have a worse expression than those people that little girl from the ring fucked up

“happened to commit a crime” ? Holy shit guys, if you keep this up I’m gonna have a whole new season of stand up comedy. How did that happen? “Oops….I guess I’m robbing this bank, give me your money before I “accidentally” fire one in your direction”. Oh yeah, not to mention that I was illegally parked. :-\”

ok you guys, scenario, driving home from a bar you get an attempted carjacking from some crackhead who smacks around and rapes your girl at gunpoint in front of you, in his lapse after ruining your perception of your girls innocense you wrestle the gun away subdue him and instead of waiting for the 5.0 you decide to get midevil on him and cap all extremities and finish him slowly your buddy that was passed out in the back of the car sees and tells the real story to the DA,now thats drastic but i’m overemphasizing to make my point crime is not condoned but retaliation is a crime also this is where it pains me to agree with christine and say circumstances factor in.

Which brings up a good point, if anyone ever breaks into your house, shoot to kill. Otherwise they might sue you. Ahhh, the legal system. :-w

well definitely shoot to kill that way your the only account of the story just don’t shoot him in the back or it’s a crime!

This is so true. Someone’s done their research! That’s why when you’re walking down the stairs, and see the burgular going through a drawer you go, “HEY!” then shoot immediately. Or you could bark. That would be cool. Or shoot in the back of the leg, then shoot the chest. So it looks like you were trying to incapacitate him, but then he threatened to shoot you. Ahh…it’s nice to have options. I think I’d use the barking one though. I don’t really know why, just sounds like a good idea. :-?

if a guy is going to break in while you are at home and catch what is referred to as a “home invasion” which triples the time & in some cases pushes it to the federal level, then i’m posative he’d shoot the dog, you, or just torture you for doing it

I hate to bring up this tiny little point and rain on you guys’ parade… but it is illegal to protect property with lethal force (even if it’s not in the back). Just something to consider before you bust out your .380s on whoever is coming out of the house with your t.v. when you pull into your drive.
