Happy New Year!

Usually, I do a ‘Year in Review’ type of thing on the last day of December, but quite frankly, the past two months have been quite hectic for me (as you can probably guess by my lack of posting and commenting). I would like to say that 2007 will go down in my book as a good year for me. I always get very excited about new beginnings and while I tend to get a little depressed right after Christmas, the New Year is a good pick me up.

In general, it seems 2007 was a good year for most of the CvC regulars as well: Mara got engaged, PJ got a new job, Trouble, well, …

Penn State - Virginia Tech Students - Costumes

Penn State - Virginia Tech - Costume - Guy

Two Penn State students, dressed as Virginia Tech shooting victims, at a Halloween party have enraged people from the Virginia Tech community, as well as the entire country.
Penn State officials were quick to respond to the costumes.

“We are appalled that these individuals would display this level of insensitivity, indifference, and lack of common decency and sense by dressing up in this manner, the school said.  The fact that one of these individuals is actually from Virginia, makes it …

Roosevelt Sims was experiencing diabetic shock, but Amtrak employee’s thought he was drunk. They decided to throw him off the train in the middle of a national forest in Arizona, two miles from the nearest road. He was found several days later, dehydrated & disoriented, about two miles from where the train left him. Amtrak officials say the employee’s were just following company policy.

The problem with sex offenders is… well… they’re sex offenders. And like most people in this country, I don’t particularly want them living next door to me. But the issue of how to deal with them brings up some interesting questions about our legal system, personal rights, and the practicality of our government actually doing everything they can to keep people safe.

Yesterday, I read in the paper about the number of ‘homeless’ sex offenders that are now flying under the radar because stringent laws about where they’re allowed to live may be in fact, too stringent. Let me recap the article for you…

Basically, Jessica’s Law which was approved in California as a response to a girl named …

Calling All Clairvoyants…

So Lily’s recent comment inspired this post. As I was scouring the internet for relevant and life-changing news to blog about, I came across a job ad for psychics. Everything in italics was taken directly from hiringpsychics.com (which apparently is THE place for psychics to go when they’re looking for work… I wonder how many of them apply and then don’t get hired… wouldn’t they know not to waste their time on a job they won’t get? Maybe only the “real” psychics get hired… yeah, that’s probably it…)

Straight from their website:

At California Psychics we’re looking for “The Best” Psychics. Do you have what it takes to be a “California Psychic?” If so, …
