Okay… so Christopher and I have finally found something to debate about… -) He’s being very thick-headed about this, so I am going to post on this subject, and when all of you rush to my side and agree with me, he will see the errors of his ways and realize I’m right. At least, that’s the plan…Christopher does not think he needs to tip 15%.

If you have ever worked in food service waiting tables, bartending, bussing, cocktailing, kitchen staff, catering… you are probably gripping your chest as a cool, numb feeling works its way up your left arm. I spent a good ole chunk of my life working in food service or maybe I should say working my ass off in food service, when I was in college and for a year or so afterward. And it was [...]

Tim’s Problem

Posted on September 5th, 2007 by Christine.

Today, as I walked out of my apartment, I saw a rolled up piece of paper tucked into my door handle. Opening it up, I realized it was a letter from someone who lived in my apartment complex (named Tim) asking for help from the other tenants. I don’t know Tim– I’ve never met Tim. But he described a very interesting dilemma, so I thought I’d post his letter on the site and get feedback from our readers and maybe Tim can get some advice. At the bottom of the letter was Tim’s email address (which I will not reproduce for the sake of his privacy). By the way, Tim is not a native English …

Weird Thought of the Day…

If you’ve been reading our site for a long time, you’ve probably seen at least one of my ‘weird thoughts’ posts. This is one of those.

The other day, I was watching a commercial with people dancing. And my thought was… I wonder what aliens would think if they came to Earth and witnessed someone turning on music and people suddenly started wiggling their bodies around, making faces, turning in circles, etc. Would they think that maybe we’re allergic to music or something? Things I Learned About Soccer

Last night, Christopher took me to my first pro soccer game: Los Angeles Galaxy vs. Chivas USA.

We had a really good time and completely enjoyed it, but there were some things I noticed (and maybe I was in the perfect position to notice them since I hadn’t seen a game before), that I think need to be changed about the game. Here they are:

1. The area in front of the goal is called the “penalty box.” I’ve decided that this name is confusing. In hockey, the penalty box is where the players sit when they get ejected, but in soccer, no one sits in the penalty box. Very, …

Hiking with Christopher

Last weekend, I told Christopher I wanted to go on a hike we’d done before in Palos Verdes. I hadn’t been out of the house all weekend and needed some fresh air so I called him up, told him I was going, and asked if he’d like to join me. He agreed.

Now let me explain a little about this hike. Basically, you drive to a paid parking lot where you leave your car and there is a picnic area that overlooks the scenic rocky cliff of Palos Verdes and the ocean below. From the edge of the picnic area, there are two paths that take you down that rocky embankment to more rocks that jut out …
