I’m back in L.A. And after one week in Hong Kong, all I can say is… thank god for British colonization. If it weren’t for the greed of the Brits and their desire to rule the world, my trip would’ve been much more taxing. The British influence in HK is everywhere– all the signs are in Cantonese and English, everyone — except the cab drivers surprisingly enough– speak fluent or near-fluent English, and not only do the people of Hong Kong enjoy dim sum on a daily basis, they also like High Tea.
My friend and I literally packed a month’s worth of sightseeing into about four days– Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Macau, Lantau, and Lamma– and now I’m sick with a cold and paying the price. Oh well… it was worth it.
I will say, however, that the security at the Hong Kong airport is a bit lax judging from the picture below… I took it in the baggage claim area when we arrived. The sign (I know it’s hard to read with the glare) reads, “Do not leave baggage unattended.”
That thing sitting below it… was an unattended bag.
