AJ, because you hail from the country where the entire concept of Dharma originated, I will assume that you are familiar with it in theory, but questioning the relevance of the word ?Dharma? being used in reference to the main content of the post {i.e. the picture?}
The Dharma doll is a likeness of Bodhi-dharma, that was created by the Japanese in order to venerate him. It is self-righting when you push it, to represent perseverance in life. They are sold with blank eyes, and it is customary to paint in one eye when you begin an important task, and then the other one upon completion of the task.

If I had only known this is all it would take to motivate Christopher to do what I wanted him to do, I would have bought these creepy freakin’ things by the dozen. I’d actually never heard of them before Christopher showed it to me… they didn’t mention it in my Eastern Religions class in college. Maybe they thought the whole one-eyed thing was a turn off… I don’t know… but the sooner that pot-bellied freak gets his second eye, the better I’ll feel.
BTW… thanks for the insight on those, Trouble. And remind me to never let a Japanese person create anything to venerate me.
