Ha! Okay… I do want to point something out about this. “The Ivy” is a shi-shi restaurant where celebrities are famous for hanging out. Pretty much any time you go there, you’ll see someone famous eating there. So I’m guessing– I don’t know for sure– but I have a feeling that paparazzis were probably hanging out right around there waiting for the celebs to come out, so the Ivy decided to take advantage of that and charge ‘em up the ass for hanging out in their cars waiting.
This is smart on the part of the owners…I mean you might as well capitalize on another small way to extort money from people. I could care less…if you are dumb enough to not get validation you deserve to get hit up for the xtra cash. I mean I don’t care for paparazzi, and wouldn’t want that job. However if you have it don’t be a jackass and park somewhere that’s gonna get you hit up for an asisnine amount of money when you pull out of a parking lot.
I gues sthe long and short of it is good for the Ivy and tough shit for non-validated ppl!
Um, what _is_ validation?
Here in India, we either have valet parking or we don’t. No validation shit and “others”
Validation, getting your ticket stamped the the place your eating at… assuming it’s the Ivy your all good.
Reading what Christopher wrote, I’m not sure it explains it well. Basically, when you get validation, it means they want proof that you are actually patronizing the establishment of whose parking lot you’re parking in. So… like Christopher said… they usually put a stamp on your parking stub when you pay your check to prove you ate there. That’s what validation is… maybe in India, they don’t try to extort people for the cost of a parking space.
Ahh! Well in India, Valet parkings are available usually in establishments which have their own parking space.. Otherwise there usually is not!
So usually the point of validation does not come up. Though some malls have such a thing to give incentive for people to shop! If they purchase something, the shop where they did the purchasing gives them a coupon which indicates that they did buy something and for those shoppers, the parking becomes free!
Yes.. I got lazy.. I starting writing what Validation was..and a thought occured to me.. if I do this halfass.. Christine will write a good description.. see aj.. I understand women PERFECTLY.
Actually, Christopher doesn’t go out to restauarants that don’t have drive-thrus so there is no reason to park… which explains why he didn’t know how to convey what validation is. He wasn’t really sure himself…
And aJ… just fyi… some stores in malls do that here too… not a coupon, but a stamp on your parking stub so that people who buy stuff get free parking too.
this is ridiculous! why even park then? i would make a living in LA by counterfeiting validation stamps& tickets!
Ithink it’s just fucking ridiculous to have to pay to park at the mall. I mean really what if you go in for one item, and you relaize you can buy it at wal-mart, target, dicks or bestbuy what have you for $5-8 cheaper. You leave not purchasing said item, and head to best buy to save $10 dollars and have to pay to park for 20 mins or however long you were there? That’s extortion… I have never been to a mall where I had to pay to park ever!
Hello Guru, what entice you to post an article. This article was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Thursday.
The wardens always hide and are sneaky.
I love clipping coupons! I save approx. $50 a Month doing this! I suggest getting electric scissors when cutting coupons in bulk!
