Alright.. I think #1 she shouldn’t have to pay for her search bills, that is a bad presidence to set.. #2 she is obviously sick because people who arn’t having a melt down just don’t run off like this, #3 I have to give her man, mad props for sticking by her.. #4 to all the people who think she has “crazy big eyes”, I have to say big eyes are great when she is on her knee’s giving a blowjob staring up at you with those big brown eyes… sexy. First of all, I don’t care how stressed out you are about getting married, you don’t do what she did. If you think about what she put her parents and her fiance through for days because she didn’t have the guts to stand up and tell people that she’d changed her mind about getting married… it’s very selfish and very cold. So yes, she should have to pay back the taxpayers’ money she wasted. It’s a great precedence to set because maybe people will actually think about their actions instead of just doing this shit for attention or because they don’t know how to deal with life. Yes… she had a meltdown, but it doesn’t imply she’s sick. Legally, if you’re able to premeditate something, you are sane enough that it wasn’t some sort of snap in your frontal lobe. She knew what her plan was when she bought the bus ticket and she kept it under wraps until she was ready to take off. People who are insane also don’t lie about what they did because if you’re insane, you’re not supposed to know right from wrong. Lying implies she knew what she did was wrong, and she tried to cover it up. I have to hand it to her man too… he comes out of this looking like a saint for sticking by her… he must have really loved her a lot– I don’t know too many guys who would do that. Regarding her buggy eyes… I’m sure they are sexy when she’s giving a blow, but then again… whose eyes aren’t sexy when they look up at you while the mouth is wrapped around your dick… a lazy-eyed cyclops would be sexy in that scenario… but the lazy-eyed cyclops probably wouldn’t “eat and run…” LOL! She should absolutely not have to payback the tax-payers, that is a seriously bad presidence to set… every teenage child that runs away his parents now get stuck with the bill.. when he shows up three days later.. .. now should she be punished for calling 911..yes. but ya know what.. I think that she probably will do some consoling and she probably has deep issues so I’m not sure punishing her will teach her or anybody else anything. May 2nd, 2005
They don’t launch an investigation with billboards, and police, and volunteer search and rescue, and special masses at churches when a kid runs away. And most kids who run away wouldn’t call their parents and make up a story that they’d been kidnapped. If they did, they’d probably get the book thrown at them when they finally came home. This was a 32 year old adult who knew what she was doing… if she doesn’t have to pay it back, then it sets an example for other people who decide to do the same thing. Maybe fiance can pay it for her… and btw, I don’t think she called 911. She told her fiance she’d been kidnapped and then he’s the one who called the cops I think… May 2nd, 2005
Well, I have to say I feel sorry for her in a way if she got cold feet, but there’s just no excuse in this day and age to fake your own kidnapping. I agree with whoever said she is marrying the most understanding (or the stupidest) man in the world. May 3rd, 2005

I think the main culprit here, in terms of how the story became such a big deal, is the overblown hysteria. This is the latest in a string of media frenzies when a middle-class white woman disappears. Obviously, it’s warranted sometimes, as the recent case of the guy who shot his wife when she found out he was lying about getting into grad school, and then made up the story about how she disappeared while jogging. When was the last time we heard about a huge media frenzy/manhunt when a low-income black woman (or hell, even low-income white woman) disappeared? How many women have vanished or, worse, died at their husbands hands and it never makes it to the media because it’s just not as interesting as Laci Peterson? People die and disappear every day. Why do we only focus on people like Jennifer Wilbanks and Lacy Peterson? May 3rd, 2005
Why would we care about low-income black women.. or low-income women in general.. shit I barely care about middle and high income women.. I think there are certainly some prerequisites that need to be meant before we can care if a woman disappears or not.. 1. She is attractive or #2 she might have money… or #3 she contributes to society in some way.. (which is rare for a woman) #4 is younger then.. 15 years old. #5 she must be white… unless she is an extremely attractive woman.. like if penelope cruise disappeared I for one would demand they find her! I think white women do become icons of the media when they go missing much more than other ethnic groups… however… the reason Laci Peterson became the center of attention was because she was 8 months pregnant and our society still sees pregnant women as not being able to take care of themselves, or defend themselves or whatever… I mean, it probably is hard to fight off an attacker with a huge pregnant belly. The reason Jennifer Wilbanks was such a flavor of the week is because she was kidnapped right before her wedding (not). Society favors people who seem to have “a perfect life” ie– are in love, getting married, having a baby, etc. over low income women who live in sketchy neighborhoods or have lots of kids or are around violence more often. Well I think society in general understands that women can’t take of themselves so of course a pregnant woman can’t take of herself.. plus she was hot, plus she was wealthy, plus she was white.. ya she pretty much is the perfect canadate for someone who is going to go missing…. Jennifer Wilbanks was popular because she was probably wealthy, (600 people at a wedding probably means someone has some $$$, she was attractive, and she was white…) I’m seeing a pattern here.. but I think the key is that the girl is somewhat attractive.. if that bitch that pulled the finger in her chilly went missing nobody would give a fuck. She’s crazy, but probably not legally crazy. Now she’s going to a mental home for several days so it’ll look like she has enough of a problem so she won’t be on the hook for the $$$ that her disapperance cost. If she doesn’t want to pay it back that’s fine but she should stand in the street for a day and let the angry public throw eggs at her or something. I wrote about this when it first came out too.
